Public Health and Care

Public hospital and clinic is part of Quito’s public healthcare system, providing comprehensive medical care to individuals without medical insurance. Volunteers and participants engage in a real-world healthcare setting that emphasizes learning, humility, and service, and is open to medical students, pre-med and nursing students, as well as practicing healthcare professionals.

Children and Community Care

Quito is home to both long-term residents and families who have moved from other regions of Ecuador in search of opportunity. Many live in vulnerable communities on the city’s outskirts, where parents work during the day and young children attend local childcare centers. These centers support children ages one to four by providing care, nutrition, early learning, and safe spaces, with age-based groups led by dedicated educators and supported by government and partner organizations.

Rapid population growth of Galapagos Island and migration have strained local resources, and goods brought from the mainland have unintentionally introduced invasive species. Insects and aggressive plants such as blackberry, guava, and superrosa now threaten native ecosystems by spreading quickly and disrupting natural habitats. Our work focuses on removing invasive plants, restoring native and endemic species, and supporting the community in protecting the island’s natural environment.
